Tokoname-yaki teapots were traditionally constructed using red clay. However, the introduction of new clay varieties has opened up avenues for diverse designs. Elegant round and flat shapes in both white and brown clay, complete with a baking finish, have been meticulously crafted. The kyusu, incorporating a stainless steel fine mesh tea strainer, is well-suited for the brewing of deep-steamed tea.
