Potter Hitoshi Morimoto’s “Shirahana” series of unglazed stoneware vessels have beautiful unadorned forms and textured surfaces. Morimoto who specializes in bizen ware produces the vessels using using the same clay from local rice paddies that is used to produce Bizen pottery. Firing in a kerosene kiln allows him to achieve a neutral tone.
