Mr. Shuji Kodama is a master of ceramics known for his captivating blend of tension and elegant aesthetics. After graduating from the Kyoto Traditional Arts and Crafts College (now Kyoto Traditional Crafts University), he apprenticed at "Kiln Yamano" in Tanba-yaki.

 

Later, he established "Toukoubou Kiki" in Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture, where he dedicates himself to daily pottery production.Mr. Kodama cherishes traditional techniques and knowledge while infusing his work with elements of Rinpa, the tea ceremony, and mid-century sensibilities, always innovating with fresh ideas.

 

In his pottery, Mr. Kodama values incorporating elements of simplicity and imperfection to infuse depth into everyday life. He believes in prioritizing texture and form, as these are elements directly experienced by the hands of users.

 

Following this ethos, his creations boast refined designs and a sense of effortless beauty. Notably, his designs often enhance the presentation of food, elevating the beauty of the tableware even further.
